From the moment you meet Bobby, you experience the thrills and disappointments of life through his eyes. Ms. Fuentes weaves the story with threads of grief, excitement, challenge and fear, in a way that teaches subtly but effectively. As in her first book, she incorporates a second language into the story that allows the reader to see things a different way, without feeling unable to take in the tale. You feel Bobby's hesitation right along with him, but Ms. Fuentes offers a way for us to learn just as Bobby does.

I had the honor of being a beta reader for this story!

This is a wonderful story about friendship and life changes! I love the amount of diversity she writes about, and how Ms. Fuentes covers topics like sign language and hearing impairment, as well as the challenging issues of natural disasters and grief of a loved one!

Her depiction of the variety of characters from the middle grade boys to the girl who follows them around, and their mothers is a true testament to her writing abilities! Be prepared to laugh and commiserate! And much like Cry on Hallow's Eve, expect some fear, but in a very different way!
